These Ducks are renowned for their comical upright appearance. They can become incredibly tame in the right environment and are often used for training sheepdogs.
They are a Malayan laying breed brought into the country in the mid 1800’s, they have since been kept for ornamental and egg laying purposes.
They are a low maintenance duck which make very little mess. They are very active like to be part of a group.

Breed History:
Created by Reginald Appleyard between the wars to provide a fast growing meat bird and laying bird.

Created in Germany and imported to the UK in the 1970’s. Created between the wars for a fast growing, all purpose utility duck which possessed pretty colouration for showing. (The German version of the English Silver Appleyard)

Breed History:
Most believe that the Cayuga originated in North America from a wild Black Duck but it has been argued that the common mallard was involved. Size was originally bred for but know the green sheen takes priority.

Strong and Lively duck

Breed History:
One of the oldest breed of domestic duck in the country. They were very popular in the Victorian times but disappeared until the 1950’s when they were brought back for exhibition purposes.

Imported from China in the 1870’s they are a big fluffy duck. The breed we know today has been bred to stand upright for showing purposes. They are a heavy fast growing meat breed and most of us have tried crispy Pekin Duck.
